"I think we can say that military operations had ended, that the whole area of Libya is now under the control of the National Transition Council and after a few steps while in one this week, NATO operation has ended," said Juppe told Europe 1 radio as reported by AFP news agency , Friday (21/10/2011).
Juppe said the future of Libya is now in the hands of the Libyan people themselves.
"The operation now has to end because of our goal, namely to accompany the troops of the National Council of Transition in the liberation of their territory, has now been achieved," said Juppe.
"Our goal is not to kill Gaddafi. When I say we, I'm talking about the coalition, France in NATO. Our goal is to force him to cede power. Then it's up to the National Transition Council to arrest and judge him," said Juppe.
A NATO official said the military planners would recommend in a day or two whether to stop the total mission in Libya or stop these attacks and continue to monitor the situation until the next two weeks.
